Harold Homer McNeff Jr.

Harold Homer McNeff Jr., 86, of Jemison died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at VA Medical Center in Birmingham.

He was born Monday, Sept. 22, 1924, in Indiana, son of the late Harold Homer McNeff Sr. and the late Evelyn Wilkes McNeff.

He was an engineer with the City of Birmingham.

Surviving are wife, Libby McNeff of Jemison; seven children; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Phillip Kenneth “P.K.” Langston

Phillip Kenneth “P.K.” Langston, age 81 of Jemison, passed away on Aug. 22, 2011, at his residence.

He was born in Chilton County on Aug. 15, 1930, the son of the late Euell Langston and the late Myrtle Robinson Langston.

Mr. Langston was a welder.

He is survived by: wife, Bernice Langston; daughter, Donna Griffin; daughter, Sandra Ray; son, Steve Langston; sister, Mavis Gwin; and sister, Margaret Underwood, all of Jemison; along with five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. from Mars Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. William Earl Short officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mars Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jemison.

Barbara Jean Oliver

Barbara Jean Oliver, age 53, a waitress, of Jemison, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at Cooper Green Hospital in Birmingham.

She was born March 17, 1958, in Myrtlewood. She was a member of Cedar Grove Methodist-Protestant Church.

She is survived by: son, James Henry (Elizabeth) Flowers Jr. of Jemison; daughter, Catherine Marie Flowers (Kenneth) Johnson of Sylacauga; daughter, Crystal Michelle (Chris) Jones of Morris; daughter, Brittany Nicole (Shawn) Wilkinson of Vandiver; sister, O’Lean Flowers of Demopolis; sister, Frances (Steve) Zimmerman of Linden; sister, Rebecca (Joe) Belcher of Holman’s Hollow; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, Ceilie Mae and Henry O’Neal Oliver.

Graveside funeral services were held at Thomaston Cemetery on Thursday, Aug. 4 at 5 p.m. with James Flowers officiating.

Active pallbearers were Eugene Flowers, Wayne Flowers, C.J. Byrum, Brandon Johnson, Shawn Wright and Chris Jones.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Belcher and Kenny Johnson.

Arthur Eugene “Mac” Parrish

Arthur Eugene “Mac” Parrish, age 79 of Thorsby, passed away on July 12, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 18, 1932, in Chilton County to the late Curtis Parrish and the late Nora Minor Parrish.

Mr. Parrish was a retired truck driver for J.C. Penney.

He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by: wife, Ann Parrish of Thorsby; son, David Parrish of Thorsby; daughter, Wanda (Tommy) Bishop of Thorsby; grandson, Adam Bishop of Thorsby; grandson, Payton Parrish of Clanton; granddaughter, Lyndsay Bishop of Thorsby; great grandson, Brantley Bishop of Thorsby; brother, Earl Parrish of Clanton; brother, J.C. Parrish of Clanton; and brother, J.N. Parrish of Maryville, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 14 at 11 a.m. from Oak Grove Baptist Church in Jemison with the Rev. Robert Gibson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Jemison.

The family request no flowers, but memorial contributions be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.

Roger Dale Wilson

Roger Dale Wilson, 66, of Jemison, passed away Sept. 9, 2011, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster. He was born in Chilton County on Jan. 21, 1945, the son of the late Lamon Clevie Wilson and the late Margie Corene Davis Wilson.

Mr. Wilson was a brick mason; he also served his country in the United States Army during Korea.

He is survived by: son, Timothy Allen Wilson; son, Roger Lawayne Wilson; daughter, Brenna Michelle Wilson; son, Craigery Shawn Wilson; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Gentry; sister, Opal Miller, all of Jemison.

He is preceded in death by: son, Christopher Wade Wilson; great-grandson, Trenten Gene Wilson; father, Lamon Clevie Wilson; mother, Margie Corene Wilson; and brother, Lamon Wilson.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.

Burial followed in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Jemison.

Otis Convel Murphy Jr.

Otis Convel Murphy Jr., 66,  of Jemison died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011.

He was born on  Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1944, in Chilton County, son of the late Otis Murphy Sr. and the late Fannie Martin Murphy.

He was a carpenter.

Surviving are his two daughters, Melissa (Todd) Baker of Verbena and Pattie (Brad) Watts of Marbury; three grandchildren, Jason Montgomery of Verbena, Nicole Watts of Marbury and Trent Montgomery of Verbena; great-granddaughter, Jayden Montgomery of Verbena; sister, Evelyn Emfinger of Jemison; and brother, Anthony Murphy of Jemison.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Elnor (Doodle) Lawrence.

Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Avery officiating.

Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison.

Will Carmon Caudle

Will Carmon Caudle, 82, of Jemison died Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at Chandler Health & Rehab in Alabaster.

He was born on Monday, Jan. 14, 1929, in Morgan County, son of the late Henry Norman Caudle and the late Ollie Legg Caudle.

He was a mechanic.

Surviving are his wife, Alma Caudle of Jemison; daughter, Carol (Joe) Jones of Jemison; two granddaughters, Wendi Jones (Vicki Price) of Montevallo and Brandi (Shea) Turner of Deer Park; three brothers, John Caudle of Jemison, Janace Caudle of Clanton and George Caudle of Clanton; and sister, Levene Brown of Jasper.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mike Caudle.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Bowman officiating.

Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison.

Dean Fletcher

Dean Fletcher, beloved mother and friend, went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2011, at the age of 64.

She was born Willa Dean Strickland on Aug. 29, 1946, in Hanceville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bobbie Strickland.

She is survived by her daughter, Angel Fletcher; brother, Paul Strickland; sisters, Bonnie Moulton and Kim Kirsch; nephews, Gary Strickland, Alan Strickland, Eric Moulton and Brian Kirsch; nieces, Jennifer Williams, Ame Sexton and Jessica Kirsch; aunts, Jean Hayes, Catherine Vaughn, Lois Strickland and Dicey Childers; and uncle, Walter Strickland.
She worked for the VA for many years and retired from U.S. Civil Service. She devoted her life to raising her only daughter.

Dean touched the lives of everyone she met and inspired people with her strength, perseverance and unwavering faith in God. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 22 at Jemison First Baptist.

Visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will be at Midway Gardens immediately following the service.

Stanley Willard Cost

Stanley Willard Cost died Friday, July 15, 2011, at Shelby Medical Center.  He was born in Jemison on June 7, 1916, to Tom and Beulah Cost.

He was a member of Jemison First Baptist Church.

He was retired from U.S. Steel.  He was an active member of Stanley Cost Masonic Lodge 411 for more than 50 years.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling and were members of the Chilton County Travel Club.

He is survived by his nephew, Jimmy Parker (Luria) of Jasper; nieces, Priscilla Melton (Rickey) of Bruce, Miss., Linda Holland (Bob) of Saltillo, Miss., Norma Walls of Bruce, Miss. and Bertie Swanson of Houston, Miss.; six great nieces and nephews; and six great-great nieces and nephews, two of which were extremely special, Peyton and Parker Drummond of Dora.

He was given wonderful care and love by his sitters, Tashia Worthey, Angie Agee, Debra Bolding, Barbara Nix, Marsha Kine, Annie Agee, Diedra Worthey, Roslyn Varner, Etelka (Tabby) Rogers, Janice Perkins and Shalonda Worthey. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elena Branum Cost (who passed away May 15, 2011); a daughter, Della Cost Tidwell; a sister, Mary Thomas Skurlock; and a sister-in-law, Jewel Branum Parker.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 16 from 5-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton. Services will be Sunday, July 17 at 1 p.m. from Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Charles “Mike” Niece

Charles “Mike” Niece passed from this life on Monday, June 27, 2011, in Michigan at the age of 43.

Mike was a 1986 graduate of Jemison High School.

Mike was born on June 24, 1968, in Michigan to Dennis and Linda Niece. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Niece of Clinton Township, Mich.; daughter, Allison Niece; son, Michael Niece of Clinton Township, Mich.; mother, Linda Niece of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; sisters, Kippy (Kenny) Smitherman of Billingsley and Lacey (Buff) Morrow of Maplesville; brothers, Adam (Julie) Niece of East Pointe, Mich. and Kevin Niece of Jemison; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Niece; and niece, Katelyn Underwood.

Burial was in White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Mich.
