Lady Rebels improve to 3-0 in Area 9 play

Thorsby’s girls basketball team last week took a commanding lead in Class 2A Area 9 with wins over both Fultondale and Shades Mountain Christian.
The Rebels (7-0, 3-0 area) defeated Fultondale, 51-39, and Shades Mountain, 42-32.
The Rebels (6-0) got 16 points from Sharonda Cooper, 11 points from both Amanda Hubbard and Ashlin Hilyer and 7 points from Jonna Doody against Fultondale.
In the Shades Mountain game, Cooper scored 20 points, and Hubbard had 12 points.

Panthers fall to CCHS, IHS
Chilton County’s girls basketball team Dec. 8 defeated Jemison, 35-30.
CCHS (1-3) held a slight lead for almost the entire game and took command with a strong defensive performance in the third period.
The Tigers didn’t allow their hosts to convert a field goal until Kelsey Mims’ 10-footer with 3:41 left in the quarter made it 27-23 CCHS.
Tika Nunn had 13 rebounds for the Panthers.
Jemison last week also lost to Isabella, 37-31.
Kelsey Mims led the Panthers with 13 points.
Nunn pulled down 15 rebounds, and Shelby Lopez contributed eight points and three steals.
